Garden Planning & Design |
The trick here is to plan backwards. Begin with your ideal farm. Make sure you have all the parts (meat, veggies, fertilizer, water, sun exposure, etc.). Once you have identified the parts then find the best place for your vegetable garden (the place with the most southern sun exposure). Next , find the best place for your animals, ideally with some shade. Now you can look at landscaping and any other areas that you want to create (children’s area, rain barrel/collection system, etc.) and place these on your layout. |
By not planting your plants in rows but in small blocks you are mimicking nature keeping more moisture in the ground. |
